| ACU uniforms are built to military specifications with vat-dyed 50% Nylon / 50% Cotton ripstop fabric. The ACU coat features hook and loop-faced patches that accomodate rank insignia, unit patch, and name tapes; the madarin collar which can be worn up or down; the hook and loop sleeve cuff closure which provides positive closure; and a 3-slot pen pocket on the sleeve bottom. The coat also has maximized shoulder pockets.
The ACU Trouser features a leg cuff with front closure tie, which allows for more comfortable closure on the outside of the boot collar. Also features knee pouches with hook & loop closures for internal kneepad inserts, buttonfly with a drawstring, bellowed-calf storage pocket, and forward-tilted cargo pocket.
The ACU fabric has Near Infrared (NIR) Signature Management Technology which is used by the U.S. Department of Defense to prevent detection by NIR Image Converters. These photocathode devices do not detect temperatures, but rather infrared radiation variances. NIR-compliant uniforms use a special fabric that allows soldiers to appear at the same radiation level as the surrounding terrain, thus making them more difficult to detect.
